DCU-O-0101 OpenVMS System Administration

Course Description

The OpenVMS System Administration course provides training practice in basic OpenVMS skills. It also provides introduction and practice of the elementary system and network administration tasks.

Pre-requisites

Students taking this course should a have a very basic understanding of computer concepts. They should know what a computer is; what a keyboard is; and other very elementary concepts.

Agenda

Student will learn:

Logging in and out of OpenVMS system
Issuing DCL Commands
Create a text file using the editor
Issuing commands to manipulate files
Using symbols and logical names to customize the OpenVMS environment
Writing a simple login command procedure
Initializing disk and tape volumes
Performing image backups of disk volumes
Controlling and monitoring queues
Adding and removing users
Starting and stopping the system

The course will offer a discussion period where student can exchange ideas.
