OpenVMS Advanced DCL for Programmers

Course Description
This course teaches the student how to create and use advanced DCL features of an OpenVMS system. It teaches the student how to write commands procedures and program development tools.
Pre-requisites
Students taking this course do not need to have knowledge of an OpenVMS system. But should already be able to successfully write, compile, debug and run programs on some other operating system.

Student will learn:

Log in and out of OpenVMS
Setting up terminal characteristics
Issuing DCL command
Creating an editing text files
Sending messages to other system users
Writing a simple command procedure

Write Command Procedures
Use DCL command to search, sort, merge, and find differences in text files
Write command procedures that: accept terminal user and file input, use symbol operators and lexical functions to manipulate data and use error handling techniques;
