DCU-O-0105 OpenVMS Application Development Tools

Course Description

This course teaches the student how to program and use the various advanced features to the OpenVMS. Topics include (a) advanced features of OpenVMS editors (b) the use of program libraries (c) use the lexical functions and command procedures (d) the use of system function calls in application programs.

Pre-requisites

Students should be able to use on-line and printed documentation, understand the basic hardware and software components of an OpenVMS system.

Agenda

Student will learn:

Creating and editing text files
Use DCL to search and find differences in text files Use logical names and symbols to manipulate files
Write command procedures
Use advanced OpenVMS DCL features
Use OpenVMS programming features
Use the OpenVMS debugger

The course will offer a discussion period where student can exchange ideas.
